As Senior Vice President of Technology for Cox Communications in Atlanta, Jay Rolls and his team are responsible for Architectures and IP infrastructure across all lines of business. Rolls also chairs the cable industry's DOCSIS® Certification Board.

Previously, Rolls served as the VP of Business Development at Pacific Broadband. And in 1999 and 2000 he served as the VP of Network Engineering at Excite@Home. Earlier in his career, Rolls spent nine years in Germany with Alcatel and BBN Communications (now part of Level3). He started his career working in the US intelligence community.

Rolls received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1983 and a M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in 1988.

   
David Bukovsky

David Bukovsky

BroadSoft

David Bukovsky is responsible for BroadSoft's product management and product marketing, oversees BroadSoft's application strategy and solutions for business and consumer communications. His management duties include product strategy, roadmap, architecture, extensibility and solution partners, as well as competitiveness and pricing. Bukovsky is also responsible for educating service providers, sales teams, partners, and channels in these areas.

Bringing over 20 years of invaluable industry knowledge to BroadSoft, Bukovsky has been involved in Voice over data since the early nineties and Voice over IP since the mid- nineties. Prior to BroadSoft, Bukovsky was with Cisco Systems, where he became a pioneer in service provider softswitch and SIP applications. He led Cisco's service provider voice solutions and products, including the managed and hosted Call Manager solutions (now called Unified Communications Manager), the market insertion of the PGW Softswitch in 500 carriers around the world, and the delivery of the voice over broadband solution for cable providers such as Time Warner and Comcast.

Before joining Cisco, Bukovsky held management positions in engineering, operations, technology planning, marketing and program management for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon). He started his career as an engineer at IBM.
   
Jack Burton

In this role, specific project areas include Voice Over IP, Business Services, and Optical Transport. Jack Burton also represents Cablevision on several CableLabs® committees.

Before joining the Corporate Group in 1999, Burton was Director of Network Engineering of Cablevision Lightpath, Inc. Earlier, he was Manager, Fiber Optics for Cablevision's Long Island Systems.

Prior to joining Cablevision in 1988, Burton spent three years at the MTV Networks division of Viacom International, as Project Engineer. He also held Staff Engineer positions at Tribune United Cable in Rockville, MD, and at Warner Amex Cable in Cincinnati, OH.

Burton holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 1981. He is an active Private Pilot and Amateur Radio Operator.

   
Jay Carlson

Jay Carlson joined Charter in October 2005 as Senior Vice President of Information Technology with responsibility for providing strategic and operational direction for planning, designing, implementing and maintaining Charter's information technology infrastructure.

With more than 20 years experience in information technology and engineering, Carlson joined Charter from the State of Illinois, where he most recently served as the Deputy Director of Central Management Services' Bureau of Communication and Computer Services and Chief Technology Officer to the Governor's Office. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Insightful Technologies Inc., a provider of digital surveillance and video and enhanced IP services. Carlson also served in a variety of engineering and information technology roles at Universal Access Inc., Ameritech New Media, 21st Century Telecom Group, Jones Intercable Inc. and Centel Communications.

Carlson attended DePaul University. He has also been appointed by Governor Blagojevich to serve as Chairman of the Policy Committee of the Illinois Century Network (ICN), the high-speed voice-and-data network that provides telephone, computer and Internet service to State agencies and many other public entities such as K-12 schools, community colleges, and libraries.
   
Sam Chernak

Sam Chernak is the Senior Vice-President of Network Architecture within the Office-of-the-CTO at Comcast Cable. He was instrumental in the development of several technology rollouts, including the DOCSIS® 3 platform, the Voice-over-IP initiative, and the initial foray into Commercial Services. He also served as the Vice-President of Engineering and Operations for Comcast Cellular, and held executive positions at several mid-size telecommunications companies. Chernak started his career at AT&T Bell Labs designing private networks.

   
Kip Compton

Charles "Kip" Compton

In this role Kip Compton is responsible for the strategic direction, product development, business partnering and delivery of leading-edge products such as the Cisco Content Delivery System for TV on-demand, web/streaming and mobile content delivery.

Compton has more than 14 years of senior leadership experience in systems and network engineering including roles in both equipment and service providers. His areas of interest include working closely with customers to solve strategic challenges such as service velocity, feature integration, content distribution, targeted advertising and digital media security.

Compton assumed his current position in January 2006 after serving three years with Comcast Cable Communications as vice president of video and media engineering. In that role, he led the team responsible for developing Comcast's digital cable, simulcast, security, switched broadcast, video on-demand, and streaming media infrastructure and services.

Compton held roles at Cisco from 1998 to 2001 as director of technology strategy and later director of entertainment solutions. Compton earlier served as director of Internet Systems and Services for MediaOne Group. Prior, Kip was manager of strategic technology and programs for AT&T New Media Services. Earlier in his career he worked for SNET/SBC in their internet and video services development organization and conducted research at MIT with partners including Turner Broadcast and IBM on networked content and services.

Compton holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science and Master of Engineering degree in electrical engineering and computer science, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Wharton.

   
Rajive Dhar

In his current role, Rajive Dhar oversees the company's global growth strategy through business development efforts including acquisitions and new product and market initiatives in digital video networking. Dhar brings a breadth of operational and strategic experiences to BigBand, gained throughout his 20 years of experience in the technology industry. During his career, he has spearheaded strategic acquisitions, investments, mergers and subsequent business integrations, along with channel building initiatives at start ups and public companies.

Dhar most recently served as vice president of corporate strategy and planning at ARRIS Group Inc., where he led the company's acquisition and investment strategy. Dhar holds a master's in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a master's of science in computer engineering from Syracuse University. He holds several patents in the area of semiconductor technology.

   
Tony Faccia

In this role Tony Faccia is responsible for the planning, engineering, operations and maintenance of the wireline access networks that support the delivery of consumer and business cable TV, high-speed internet and wireline telephony services to customers.

Faccia joined Rogers in 2001. Prior to that Faccia had been with Bell Canada, Bell Nexxia, Bell Advanced Communications, Bell Sygma, and Stentor. He held a variety of positions in the areas of Engineering, Operations and Marketing over that period.

Faccia earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Toronto.

   
David Grubb

David Grubb III
Vice President, Technology Business Development
Motorola, Inc.

In this role, David Grubb III is responsible for leading the development of business strategies related to next generation TV, media mobility and fixed-mobile convergence. Grubb is tasked with bringing together Motorola's home and mobile technologies to create platforms to enable service providers to deliver new, compelling multi-screen content experiences for consumers.

Grubb originally joined Motorola, then General Instrument, in 1982. Over the last 28 years, Grubb has held a series of roles including research and development for the transmission network systems (TNS) business, and later assumed leadership responsibility as the director and then vice president of engineering. In 1997 he was named vice president, marketing for the TNS business. From 1999 to 2003, he held the position of vice president of marketing for the TNS business and then moved into the role of vice president, advanced network technology for the IP solutions group.

Grubb holds five patents and has published numerous papers on fiber optics and HFC network technology. He has also published and presented at numerous industry conferences. He holds a Master's of Science in electrical engineering degree from Drexel University and a Bachelor's of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
   
Marva Johnson

In this position, Marva Johnson helps evaluate policy implications associated with the company's technological infrastructure, service delivery, and long term strategy, reporting to Nomi Bergman, President of Bright House Networks. She also works to establish and drive regulatory strategies for the company's video, voice and data services. Prior to taking this role, Johnson served as acting VP for CLEC Operations for Bright House Networks Information Services (BHNIS).

Johnson joined Bright House in 2006 as a key member of the team that brought the Bright House Networks CLEC forward from concept to operational reality. Johnson's tenure in the technology driven industries includes prior service in regulatory and policy roles including serving as General Counsel for Supra Telecommunications (a subsidiary of FDN Communications) and Vice President and Senior Counsel for KMC Telecommunications where she oversaw KMC's regulatory, legislative and industry relations at both the state and federal levels. Prior to joining KMC, she also served in several management positions within MCI and BellSouth.

Johnson is a graduate of Georgetown University (BSBA), Emory University - Goizuetta Business School (MBA), and Georgia State University Law School (JD), and a member of the State Bar of Georgia. She serves on the National Board of Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT), the Advisory Board for Rollins College's Crummer Center for Leadership Development, the African American Women Technology Caucus (AAWTC) for the National Organization of National Organization of Black Elected Legislative (NOBEL), and as a mentor for Bright House Networks Women's Leadership Circle. Johnson is an active member of the Society of Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE).
   
Yvette Kanouff

Yvette Kanouff was appointed President of SeaChange International, Inc. in March 2010. Previously, as Chief Strategy Officer, she helped guide SeaChange into its leadership as a provider of solutions for on-demand and other advanced forms of digital video delivery that are changing media consumption on a global scale. Over the course of the last decade, Kanouff was responsible for the development and widespread deployment of the technological foundation for on-demand services.

Numerous TV industry organizations and trade journals have identified Kanouff as one of the industry's most powerful female leaders. In 2005, she became the first female chairman of the global Society of Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), a position she held for two years. Broadcasting & Cable, among others, has named her one of the 11 most influential women in the television industry. In 2008, CableFAX ranked her among the top 25 women in cable technology. Other accolades include the coveted Woman in Technology award from the SCTE and Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT).

Prior to joining SeaChange in 1997, Kanouff worked on Time Warner Cable's Full Service Network and was on the team responsible for defining the seminal Pegasus video-on-demand requirements. Widely recognized for her experience in interactive services on managed networks, Kanouff has addressed industry groups and authored numerous related papers. She holds several patents on related digital technologies.

Currently, Kanouff is an executive member of Women in Cable Telecommunications, a senior member of the SCTE and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). In 1995, she was named the IEEE Signal Processing Engineer of the Year.

Kanouff earned her Masters of Science in mathematics from the University of Central Florida.

   
James Manchester

James Manchester is currently the Regional President of Network Operations and Engineering for the NYC/NJ Region of Time Warner Cable. Prior to his current position, Manchester spent five years with the Albany Division in the Northeast Region as Vice President of Engineering and MIS/IT. Before moving to Albany, he lived in New Jersey and served in numerous leadership positions with Bellcore, Bell-Labs, and Tellium respectively. After High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and is a decorated combat veteran of the first Gulf War.

Manchester graduated first in his class with a EE degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, holds three patents and has been published in numerous technical journals and publications. He is President Emeritus of the Niskayuna Lacrosse Club and Vice President of the Adirondack Chapter of US Lacrosse.

Charles Marsh has a career span of 21 years with Rockwell, Alcatel and now Alcatel-Lucent. Throughout his career Marsh has had a wide range of leadership positions in Manufacturing, Marketing and now Sales. The National Sales group consists of all Wireline and Wireless Carriers, MSO's, Satellite Companies, State and Local Governments, Energy and Transportation in the Americas with the exception of AT&T and Verizon. Marsh is responsible for annual sales of $3 billion.
   
Marv Nelson

Marv Nelson

A 30-year veteran of the cable telecommunications industry, Marv Nelson is senior vice president, strategic initiatives, of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), a non-profit professional organization serving approximately 13,000 members worldwide.

Nelson joined the staff of SCTE in 1991. Prior to his recent promotion, he served as vice president, professional development from 1996 to 2009, leading the formation and implementation of the Society's professional development opportunities, including technical sessions featured at SCTE events and other industry conferences.

Nelson's prior positions with the Society were director of certification programs and director of chapter development. Throughout his tenure with SCTE, Nelson has distinguished himself as a visionary leader with a strong aptitude for technology, learning and development, and network systems.

Before joining the SCTE staff, Nelson worked 12 years for Metrovision Inc., starting out as a bench technician in Lincoln, Neb., in 1979. He went on to be the chief technician with Metrovision of Oakland County in Farmington Hills, Mich., from 1985 to 1991. During that time, the system's subscriber base more than doubled from 14,000 to 30,000 subscribers. As chief technician, Nelson administrated all field operations, including installation, construction and design, service and dispatch.

Nelson holds a bachelor of arts in organizational management and an MBA from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa. He is an SCTE-certified Broadband Communications Technician (BCT®) and Broadband Communications Engineer (BCE®), and has maintained those credentials since 1990. Nelson also earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives in 2006.

   
Pam Nobles

Pam Nobles leads the development and implementation of many of SCTE's professional development services and certification programs. Nobles works in conjunction with volunteer committees and working groups to align the Society's programs to industry needs.

Nobles has served the industry in various engineering and learning and development roles since 1982. Before joining SCTE, Nobles was with Comcast in Philadelphia, where she most recently held the position of senior director of CommTech development. She was honored as SCTE Member of the Year in 2002 and received the Women in Technology Award in 1996. She has been an active SCTE member since 1984.

Nobles holds a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology, a BA in Fine Arts, and an AAS in Forestry.
   
Richard Prodan

As a member of the executive management team, Dr. Richard Prodan coordinates and promotes advanced developments of new technologies, including advanced Physical Layer cable transmission technology, and represents the company in several national and international standards development organizations and industry consortia. He works with the technical and business professionals within the company, Broadcom's customer base, and the cable multiple system operators (MSOs) to leverage product and partnership solutions to the integration of data, voice, and video applications and services.

Dr. Prodan has played an instrumental role establishing the next generation DOCSIS® 2.0 and 3.0 cable modem standards working with CableLabs® and industry representatives from suppliers and cable operators. As CTO of CableLabs®, Dr. Prodan characterized bi-directional cable plant transmission in cable systems across the US and Canada. In addition, Dr. Prodan worked over eight years with the FCC Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Service to develop and test HDTV systems for the US. Prior to joining the cable industry, Dr. Prodan worked in the consumer electronics industry at Philips Research Laboratories on Compact Disc and Digital Television.
   
Larry Socher

Larry Socher is the Global Lead of the Network Practice within the Accenture Communications & High Tech Operating Group. Responsible for shaping strategic direction, building and evolving all network related offerings and alliances, driving sales and successfully delivering network programs around the globe, and growing skills and capabilities to support Accenture's Network Practice. His 20 years of experience has been instrumental in building and operationalizing voice and data networks and services for communications service providers, large enterprises, and government agencies.

Since taking over as the Global Lead in 2007, Socher is responsible for all network-related projects that Accenture does with many of the world's leading communications service providers and convergent operators. Some of the projects include helping providers plan, create, and operate both traditional and next-generation IP fixed and mobile networks.

He also oversees all network-related alliances and offerings, among which include Accenture Communications Solutions, a set of pre-integrated 'jump start' offerings that are based on readily available software packages such as business support systems, operations support systems, and service delivery platform solutions.

Moreover, Socher has worked extensively with leading global operators, helping them to develop and enhance their product roadmaps, as well as redefine their organizations and processes.

Prior to joining Accenture, Socher held various management positions at Netsoft USA, a communications software company. During his seven-year tenure, he helped provide the U.S. Federal government with network and communications solutions.

Socher received a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College.
