SCTE expo technology spotlight 2011—NEXT GENERATION VIDEO ARTCHITECTURE
Share |

Cable Technology SpotlightReturning to this year's show is the Expo Cable Technology Spotlight. The 2011 Expo Cable Technology Spotlight will focus on next generation video architecture and associated technologies that will be required and the challenges of adapting content from increasingly more diverse sources to increasingly more diverse devices, many of which are untethered. With this effort, SCTE further demonstrates its aptitude for bringing buyers and sellers together to better equip and plan the networks in the cable telecommunications industry.

Further the Spotlight will address the network infrastructure and operations tactics required to deliver content in an adaptable and flexible manner, highlighting technologies such as real-time content ingest, adaptive bit rate video, transcoding, and new scalable video coding technologies, as well as new methods of delivering content to tethered and untethered devices inside and outside the home with wireless networks that are variable in nature. Maintaining the video quality of experience (QoE) to customers in the face of such diversity will also be highlighted given the plethora of new video quality monitoring technologies available and emerging SCTE standards and best practices in this arena.

SCTE Next Generation Video Architecture Pavilion
The SCTE Expo Cable Technology Spotlight Pavilion will assemble a set of qualified exhibitors, each focused on enabling technology within Next Generation Video Architecture in at least one of the following areas:

  • Adaptive bit rate and other adaptive video transport technologies
  • Advanced CMTS, CCAP, and networking equipment designed to deliver IPTV at new scales and capabilities to modern IP-enabled homes and businesses
  • Advanced Content Delivery Network (CDN) appliances, technologies and solutions for cable operators
  • Video quality monitoring solutions, including appliances, edge devices, and those built into network devices and home gateways themselves
  • New encode/transcoder technologies and solutions
  • Whole-home network technologies for video distribution including wired and wireless home gateways with associated IP clients
  • New rapid development tools for multi-screen, UIs, RUIs, and HTML5-based video delivery and navigation tools
  • New technologies for integrated messaging via video to homes and businesses
  • New technologies and thinking for video to business customers, especially relating to SLA monitoring and conformance

Attendees will be able to see firsthand the entire flow of content through the next generation video architecture from the CDN to the home gateway and ultimately both tethered and untethered home devices.
